Medicine and Hygiene

"Make use of medical treatment, for Allah has not made a disease without appointing a remedy for it, with the exception of one disease, namely old age."

So begins the Introduction to Horace Mann's website Medieval Medicine, Health & Hygiene.

Mann states: "Medicine and health care were perhaps the highest scientific achievement of the Muslims during the Middle Ages". As such, he provides detailed information on the many achievements in medicine under noted Muslims.

* Part I - medicine.
* Part II - dentistry.
* Part III - diseases and cures.
* Part IV - medical procedures.
* Part V - hospitals.
* Part VI - pharmacies and medicine.
* Part VII - public health inspectors.
